No, I am not referring to Sun Tzu but to a most curious happening we went to last weekend. It involved people meeting at a rather picturesque place, dressing up in clothes that mostly looked way too hot for the time of the year, girding themselves with swords and bows and arrow-holders (not to forget the drinking horn holder plus drinking horn of course), tents and mideval chants. And, it involved sword fights, not only one-on-one but also groups of knights and accompanying servants.
This event was called “Medieval Festival”, and took place on a ground of an old castle in a very small village, in the south of Germany. It was very interesting as you can see the organisers were really trying to make it as “ancient” as possible. You started to be absorbed by your surrounding at some point, witnessing the group of “knights” fighting with their swords (perhaps over a princess), and wondered who was going to win this honoured battle. When suddenly, I saw in the background… something come closer and closer..it was red…and moving very fast…oh..yes…..
It was none other than a very shiny, and new, and convertible, 5 series BMW.
What a life, eh?
