As is proper for a (somewhat geeky) computer scientist, I have a number of different eMail accounts, most of which I never use, and some of which I clean of spam occasionally. It was on one of these occasions that I came accross a genuine eMail that has been sent to me a while ago, and which spoke about a web page that I set up maybe 5 years ago. I have not thought much about that page any more but it appears that sometimes, people end up reading it, and liking it too!
Now, before I give the impression that I have written something that has made an impact on people so profound that they write me, thanking me of putting the words online, I should clarify that it was (and is) nothing of my own doing. I have in fact only copied a chapter out of Michael Ende’s book Momo (yeah, copied, as in hand copied, as in sitting down with the actual book and writing the text on a keyboard) and put it online. This is because I thought, and still think, that there is something in that book, and that chapter in particular, that should be read by as many people as possible.
I have now moved the chapter to this beautiful blog (try this link: http://abhirsch.wordpress.com/a-chapter-from-momo/), so if you made it until here, why not give it a go right now?
Momo is about time, and the sense and senselessness of “saving” time. As with the “Neverending Story”, Michael Ende manages to capture essential truths in a children’s book. If there is one book you read this year, Momo would certainly not be a bad choice.

Hello,
Glad that you told me about the book: Momo. I simply must read it.
